Sedation & Anesthesia Options at Oral Surgeons of Oklahoma

At Oral Surgeons of Oklahoma, your comfort and safety are our top priorities. We understand that undergoing oral surgery can cause anxiety for some patients, which is why we offer a full range of sedation and anesthesia options, including IV sedation, to ensure a relaxed and pain-free experience—no matter the procedure.

Whether you’re coming in for wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions, or another type of oral surgery, we tailor your sedation plan to meet your individual needs.

Why Sedation May Be Recommended

Sedation can help:

Our team will review your medical history, discuss your preferences, and recommend the best sedation option for your specific situation.

Sedation Options Available

We provide several safe and effective forms of sedation and anesthesia:

IV Sedation (Intravenous Sedation)

V sedation provides a deep level of relaxation, and in most cases, patients sleep comfortably through the entire procedure with little to no memory of it afterward. This form of sedation is commonly used during procedures such as wisdom teeth removal, surgical extractions, and orthodontic surgeries.

While technically you remain conscious enough to respond to stimuli if necessary, patients are typically in a sleep-like state and do not experience pain, stress, or awareness of the procedure.

IV sedation is often used in combination with local anesthesia (to numb the surgical area) and nitrous oxide (to help ease anxiety before the IV is placed), providing a calm, pain-free experience from start to finish. Throughout the procedure, our highly trained surgical team closely monitors your vital signs to ensure your safety and comfort at all times.

Local Anesthesia

Used to numb a specific area of the mouth, local anesthesia is commonly administered for minor procedures or in combination with other sedation types.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

This mild inhaled sedative helps patients feel relaxed during treatment. It wears off quickly and is a popular option for those undergoing shorter, less invasive procedures such as a baby tooth removal. It is also used in combination with other sedation types.

Your Safety Comes First

Our board-certified oral surgeons have extensive training in anesthesia administration and surgical care. All sedation procedures take place in our accredited surgical suites, with continuous monitoring of vital signs and a dedicated team ensuring your safety before, during, and after treatment.
